Calls to prioritise education budget allocations in Western Cape

CAPE TOWN – The Western Cape Education Department says the budget-cuts of over two thousand teacher vacancies was the last resort after exhausting all other measures. 
Officials say the R3.8 billion budget gap has significantly impacted the province.

The Basic Education Minister is scheduled to meet stakeholders soon to discuss the matter further. 
Meanwhile, activists are calling on national government to reprioritise education funding allocations.
